Fenugreek seeds are the small stony seeds from the pod of a bean-like plant. The seeds are hard, yellowish brown and angular.
Fenugreek is used both as a food and food additive as well as in medicines.
As a spice, it flavours food.
The seeds are used to treat colic, flatulence, dysentery, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, chronic cough, enlargement of liver and spleen, rickets, gout, and diabetes.
Fenugreek oil is also used in the manufacture of hair tonics.
