Withania somnifera / Ashwagandha

The drug is a rejuvenating agent mainly used in Siddha, Ayurveda and Unani medicine preparations.

The plant has anti-tumour, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, fungicidal, anthelmintic, anti-convulsant, anti-stress, immunomodulatory and anti-pyretic properties.

It is also used for insomnia, weakness, ulcers, painful swellings, as an aphrodisiac and in leukoderma.
The root is used for medicine preparation.
